Recent Developments
The key task facing the people of Sheriffhales
was one that has to be faced every hundred years or so, to replace the roof! This work, combined with some additional stonework
repairs and a new drainage scheme cost over £170,000 a huge sum that was raised by the church Treasurer through English
Heritage and other grant making bodies, as well as a generous "mind the gap" local campaign. With the roof secure
the church has now to bring the inside of the building up to scratch to serve the needs of the local community.
The Jeremy Beasley Room
In a bold and visionary move the PCC petitioned for a Faculty to move
the wooden screen forward, extending the old vestry to provide a new welcome and hospitality room. This will include toilet
facilities, a small kitchenette servery, and a spacious warm room that may be used for children's work, for community
meetings, midweek services, and for refreshments after the services. In addition the PCC hope to be able to raise the remaining
funds needed to top the room with a balcony, giving extra seating in church for concerts and large services, and to install
a new porch to reduce the draught and make the building more useable.
Future Vision
As the church continues to grow in numbers and in confidence we hope to address a number of other possibilities:
