How do you picture God? How many of our images come from our childhood days, an old man sitting on a cloud? Is God like a wonderful father, a kindly uncle, a frightening headmaster, an implacable judge? So many of our images are male! As though God were a man! This Sundays first reading is from the book of Proverbs, gives us a very different picture. Holy Wisdom, creating the universe with God in the beginning, is described in feminine terms. The Holy Spirit is similarly feminine. What does it mean to broaden our image of God? This is the month to sign up for a place on the Parish Weekend.
