Revd Chris Thorpe is the vicar of Sheriffhales and Shifnal parishes.
He was ordained
in 1988 and has held posts in Letchworth in Hertfordshire, in Walsall and in Bilston, Wolverhampton.
Before Ordination
he worked in marketing for a number of different companies.
Chris specialises in helping churches to work at the
heart of their community. He wrote a paper called "Breaking the Bread of Community Engagement" as part of the Church
of England's "Faithful Cities" Report.
He also leads a course of training for the Lichfield Diocese,
called Community Ministry and facilitates a curates support group.
In 2010 SCM Canterbury Press published Chris'
latest book "Touching the Sacred".
The parishes identified the need for help in reaching children, young
people and families as their key priority for Chris when he was appointed.
Chris is married to Sarah and father
to Sophie and Jake.

Revd SARAH LAWRENCE Curate

Revd Sarah Lawrence is half time curate at Shifnal, Sheriffhales and Tong. She was ordained Deacon in 2008 in Lincoln
Diocese, and was non-stipendiary (voluntary) curate at the Car Dyke Group near Sleaford for two years. The family moved to
Shropshire in 2010 and she was ordained Priest.
Sarah trained for ordination at Ridley Hall, Cambridge, during which time she completed an MPhil in Church History.
Before that she was a church Youth Worker in Histon, near Cambridge. She enjoys working with children, young people and families.
Sarah was born and brought up in Cheshire, so is not
far from home here in Shropshire. Her husband, Chris, is a chaplain in the RAF, currently posted to RAF Cosford. They have
two children, Bethan (5) and David (4), who are at school in Shifnal.
Revd Sally Day is an Ordained Local
Minister, which means that she is a priest who acts in a voluntary capacity in the benefice as part of a Ministry Leadership
Team. Sally set up, and eventually became Chief Executive of Acorns Hospice in Birmingham and was a founding trustee of Hope
House, and for a while, Chairman. She continues to support Hope House in whatever ways she can.
She has a particular
interest in palliative care and acts as a voluntary Chaplain at the PRH in Telford. Within the clergy team Sally has special
responsibility for The Ministry Leadership Team, and for care at Netherwood.

Fr.Jim was ordained in 1981 at
Lichfield Cathedral and served at St.Matthew’s Donnington Wood. He later moved to St.Katherine’s,
Gloucester as Curate. Fr.Jim served for over 10 years as Vicar of St.George’s New Mills and Rural
Dean of Glossop in the Diocese of Derby. He was next appointed as Team Rector of Buxton and Rural Dean of Buxton. In 2002 he returned to his native Shropshire
and joined the staff at St.Andrew’s Shifnal and in 2004 was made Priest in Charge of Christ Church, Little Drayton (half
time) and then Priest in Charge of St.Mary’s Red Lake Ketley (half time).
On 20th July 2011 Fr.Jim was licensed as Associate Priest with responsibilty
for the Church of St.Bartholomew in Tong which has formed a new partnership with the Benefice of Shifnal and Sheriffhales.
Fr.Jim’s many interests include being the President of New Life Children’s Orphanage in Islamabad, Pakistan
and he was present at the Official Opening in November 2006.
